Val Starr has been singing and playing guitar since age 12.  Val met bass player, JohnE Sandwich in Los Angeles and together they worked the local L.A. club scene throughout the 80’s with local bands Threshold and Local Authority.  Val and JohnE found a musical and personal connection and after marrying in 1983, relocated to San Francisco in 1989 and played with The Val Starr Band in the S.F. club circuit.  Val and JohnE relocated to the Sacramento area in 2003, and joined local Sac band, Essex, playing many of the top Sacramento clubs, including the Arco Arena for the Kings games.  After a shift in musical directions, Val and JohnE decided to leave Essex and follow their hearts to start a truly inspiring and unique rock band, Rock of Ages.  

 

JOHNE  SANDWICH - Bass/Vocals JohnE Sandwich hails from Southern California where he began his music career playing bass in the early 70’s performing with local bands and hiring out for side work with various illustrious veteran musicians that were on the scene.   In 1983, JohnE married veteran radio promoter and musician Val Starr.  They moved to the Bay Area where they played the San Francisco club circuit for ten years. Sandwich and Starr moved to Sacramento in 2003 and now are presenting the band “Rock of Ages” to bring the best rock music to their audiences.
